June 2009

tavern logoMoran Brown is proud to sponsor the "I Love the Tavern" Triathlon, benefiting Comfort Zone Camp, for the third consecutive year. This great event will be held on June 28, 2009 and will begin at 7:00 a.m. at Robious Landing Park. This triathlon will include a 750 m swim in the James River, followed by a 18.8 mile road bike and a 5 k run. Moran Brown is a proud sponsor of the 3rd Annual John Anthony Garret Memorial Golf Tournament. This event is sponsored by the Henrico County Bar Association, and all net proceeds will benefit Camp Comfort Zone.

April 2009

C. Stinson Lindenzweig, Associate Attorney at Moran Brown, coaches the St. Catherine's Model Judiciary Team, which competes in a statewide competition run by the Virginia Bar Association. This competition consists of a mock trial, and then an appellate round in front of the Court of Appeals of Virginia. The Court decides on which students should move forward and present the appeal to the Supreme Court of Virginia. The St. Catherine's Model Judiciary Team was selected to present to the Supreme Court of Virginia, where justices found in their favor. At Moran Brown, we are pleased to congratulate Ms. Lindenzweig and the very talented team of students at St. Catherine's.

Moran Brown congratulates five of our fellow employees on a great showing in the Monument Avenue 10(k) held on Saturday, March 28. Moran Brown was well represented by Eric Reeves, C. Stinson Lindenzweig, Michelle Andino, Ashley Driscoll and Ray Berti.

Food FrenzyMoran Brown is once again this year a proud registered participant in the 3rd Annual Statewide Legal Food Frenzy benefiting the Central Virginia Foodbank and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks. This food drive will take place March 30 through April 10 2009. In last year's event, legal organizations throughout Virginia provided 1.3 million pounds of food to help this worthy cause. With more than half of this food going to the children and the elderly, Moran Brown is proud to play a part in local hunger relief efforts.

Moran Brown is pleased to announce the arrival of our newest associate, Brian J. Schneider. Brian is a seasoned attorney having previously worked at Watson Spence in Albany, Georgia and prior to that, Hunton & Williams in Richmond, Virginia. After completing law school, Brian served as a law clerk for the Honorable James P. Jones of the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia. Brian received his B.S. in accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1995 (graduating with honors) and received his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2000, where he finished in the top 10 percent of his class.

Brian will focus his practice at MB in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Toxic Torts, Occupational and Environmental Exposure Claims.

Moran Brown is pleased to announce the arrival of our newest associate, Matthew Hundley. Matt received his B.A. in 2004 from Radford University and received his J. D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2008. Matt will focus his practice at MB in the areas of Product Liability Defense and Commercial Litigation.

From September 16-18, 2008, Kenneth J. Moran attended the bi-annual International Tire and Exhibition Conference (ITEC) meeting for tire and rubber manufacturers and their suppliers in Akron, Ohio. Ken gave an address entitled "Recent Trends in Discovery Against Tire Companies" which can be found in the Moran Brown articles section.

Brickford Y. Brown has been named by Virginia Super Lawyers magazine as one of the top attorneys in Virginia for 2008. Brick has been selected in this year's edition for Personal Injury Defense: Products. The selections for Super Lawyers are made by Law & Politics, a division of Key Professional Media, Inc. and the selection process includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent evaluations of candidates, as well as peer review of candidates by practice area, and a good-standing and disciplinary check. Only five percent of the lawyers in Virginia are named Super Lawyers. Super Lawyers can be found online at www.superlawyers.com, where lawyers can be searched by practice area and location.

Congratulations to Moran Brown's relay team who competed on June 29 at the "I Love the Tavern Triathlon" in Richmond, Virginia. Marty Conn braved the James River to swim 750 meters, followed by Eric Reeves who biked 18.8 miles through Chesterfield and Powhatan Counties, with Ashley Driscoll taking care of the final leg of the race, a 5K run. Our team met it's goal of completing the triathalon in under two hours. To see the official race results, please click here.
