Eric G. Reeves is licensed to practice in Virginia, West Virginia, Texas and the District of Columbia and maintains an active practice in those jurisdictions.  He is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell.  He focuses his practice in complex litigation, with an emphasis in four areas:

Construction Litigation and Arbitration

Mr. Reeves' construction practice has been broad and varied, representing owners and contractors in trials, mediations and arbitrations of cases involving contract disputes, delay damages claims, warranty and defective construction claims, as well as construction-related accidents.  As an offshoot of this practice, he frequently counsels clients on risk management practices, including the preparation of contracts and employee and contractor safety manuals and document retention policies (particularly for compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations).  As a certified Accident Investigation Technician, Mr. Reeves is experienced in the investigation of construction-site accidents and injuries and deaths involving agricultural and construction equipment.  Well-versed in the OSHA Construction Industry standard, Mr. Reeves also is regularly called upon to attend agency inspections on behalf of clients and to contest citations or otherwise negotiate informal settlements of citations.  He is a member of the Associated General Contractors of Virginia.

Toxic Torts

For over a decade, Mr. Reeves has been heavily involved in the defense of toxic exposure claims, including, for example, asbestos, benzene, formaldehyde and mold.  In these cases, he  has successfully pursued summary judgment in a number of states based on issues such as lack of product identification, statutes of limitation and repose, the independent contractor defense and  lack of medical causation (typically following Daubert challenges).  Serving as national coordinating counsel, regional and local counsel for major corporations, Mr. Reeves has gained extensive experience in the cost-effective oversight and management of pattern litigation across the nation, coordination of nationwide discovery and massive document collections, preparation of key company witnesses and medical and liability experts.  In connection with his toxic tort practice, Mr. Reeves is very active in the Toxic Tort and Environmental Law Committees of the Defense Research Institute and the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys.

Negligence & Product Liability

Mr. Reeves has substantial trial experience in connection with the more traditional negligence and product liability claims.  He  has successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants to settlement or verdict in automobile accidents.  He has defended manufacturers and suppliers of products ranging from exercise equipment and home appliances to trucks and heavy construction equipment.

Business and Commercial Litigation

Mr. Reeves devotes a significant portion of his practice to representing small business owners and major corporate clients in sophisticated business litigation. Mr. Reeves has handled a variety of matters involving UCC claims, supplier / distributor agreements, corporate matters (including successor liability and corporate veil-piercing claims), lease disputes and covenants not to compete, and has taken these types of cases to verdict in state and federal courts.

Outside of the office, Mr. Reeves is a musician and avid outdoorsman (hunting, fishing, kayaking and long-distance running), but enjoys most spending time with his wife and three children.
