Kenneth J. Moran earned his B.S. degree at the United States Military Academy (1968), his M.A. in Political Science at the University of California at Berkeley (1971), and his J.D. at the University of Virginia (1978). Mr. Moran is an active member of the Virginia State Bar, as well as the New York State Bar. He is also a member of the American Counsel Association, Defense Research Institute, the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, as well as the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit Court. Mr. Moran is an active participant in the Product Liability Advisory Council (PLAC), which is a non-profit association with over 120 corporate members representing a broad cross-section of American and international product manufacturers.
Mr. Moran's practice focuses on product liability litigation, earning him a national reputation and a listing in Who's Who in American Law, 1994 and Madison Who's Who of Professionals, 2005-06. In 2006, he was one of five lawyers in the state named in the inaugural issue of Virginia Super Lawyers in the category of Personal Injury Defense: Products. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
He currently serves as national counsel to several Fortune 500 companies, including Bridgestone Firestone, Inc. and Continental Tire North America, Inc. Mr. Moran also counsels his clients on risk management, such as product warnings, owner's manuals, product standards, and so forth. As part of his product liability practice, Mr. Moran has assisted his clients in adapting technology to support their litigation needs. He is a frequent speaker at seminars on topics including computerized litigation support, complex litigation, product liability and risk management.
Mr. Moran's presentation, Negotiating a Structured Settlement, the 2002 Virginia CLE Seminar, Structured Settlements in Virginia Revisited is reprinted on the firm's website. On October 30, 2007, Mr. Moran presented a revised structured settlement program for the Virginia CLE program entitled: Structured Settlements: Alive and Well in Virginia.
In 2004 he co-authored a two-part article, "Discovery of Trade Secrets", Part 1, What Constitutes Protected Information? and Part 2, How Courts Analyze Disclosure Issues in the January and February 2004 issues of LJN's Product Liability Law & Strategy. (Reprinted with Permission).
