Martin A. Conn, an AV-rated litigator was named by Virginia Business magazine as one of the Legal Elite of Virginia in 2005. He practices primarily in the area of complex litigation. More specifically, since he began practicing law in 1995, he has focused on products liability, automotive, toxic tort and commercial litigation, serving as local, regional and national counsel. His clients include large multi-national, Fortune 500 companies, smaller local businesses and individuals. Regardless of the size of the business or the nature of the dispute, Mr. Conn has provided both creative solutions and hard fought victories.
Mr. Conn is admitted to practice law in both Virginia and Maryland, and practices primarily in the area of complex litigation. On the products liability side, Mr. Conn specializes in defending product designers, manufacturers and sellers against personal injury claims arising out of alleged product defects. He has defended automotive manufacturers and part suppliers, including most of the major tire manufacturers, bicycle and motorcycle manufacturers and manufacturers of a variety of industrial and consumer products. His products liability work has included negligence, strict liability, breach of warranty and punitive damages cases involving allegations of defects in tires, vehicle crashworthiness, passive and active restraint systems, automotive glass or glazing and other general defect claims.
In addition to successfully defending clients in Virginia, Mr. Conn has represented corporate defendants in both state and federal courts throughout the country, having appeared in over 20 states including Alabama, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
More recently, Mr. Conn's commercial litigation practice has expanded. He represents local and foreign businesses in a broad array of business disputes. He has both pursued and defended cases for his clients in state and federal court.
Mr. Conn maintains an active trial practice. In the past three years, he has tried wrongful death, premises liability, medical malpractice and negligence cases to juries in Virginia. Since the beginning of 2004, he has tried five jury trials.
Mr. Conn is a member of Henrico County Bar Association.
