Brickford Y. Brown practices in the areas of products liability and toxic torts, where he has specialized in the national and regional representation of companies in complex, consolidated class actions. He has over 25 years of trial experience, having tried in excess of fifty complex cases to verdict and scores of other matters. He has been the lead counsel in California, Louisiana and West Virginia for several Fortune 500 companies in toxic exposure and pharmaceutical litigation. In addition, he has advised and defended clients in the defense of personal injury cases involving consumer products and automobiles. Mr. Brown has also received defense verdicts in several high profile criminal cases, including murder, using the diminished capacity defense, and the first federal criminal prosecution of a mine superintendent under MSHA. He has made numerous arguments before state Supreme Courts and appeared on as many more on brief. Mr. Brown has tried cases to verdict in state and federal courts in Virginia, West Virginia, Louisiana and California and has appeared in 21 other states and the District of Columbia.

Mr. Brown is the immediate past chair of the Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Committee of the Defense Research Institute, Inc.

Mr. Brown is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.  In 2006, he was one of five lawyers in the state named in the inaugural issue of Virginia Super Lawyers in the category of Personal Injury Defense: Products.
